how long do the police have to issue a Notice of Intended Prosecution
The police have up to 14 days to serve an Notice of Intended Prosecution of the alleged speeding offence. However there may be some circumstances where the notice will still stand even if the police serve the NIP after 14 days.
If reasonable time is need for the police to act with reasonable diligence to find out who the registered keeper is and how to contact them, then the police may be able to extend the service period.
If the deal in serving the notice was the fault of the drivers then the police might also be able to extend the serving period.
